The other one wasn't working. 72.2 million Americans are expected to travel over 50 miles for the Independence Day 250 holiday, surpassing the previous record of 71.8 million set in 2025. It's going to be a nine-day holiday travel period, Lee. Lee: Wow. Tara: It's going to be crazy. Lee: Yeah. Tara: Uh, the vast majority, 61 million, will drive to their destinations. That is also a record. And almost 6 million will fly domestically. So bottom line, it's going to be a little bit nuts out there. Lee: Yeah. I'll be out there. Tara: Where are you going? Lee: What do you think I'm going to say? Charlotte, see the baby, of course. Tara: Yeah, because your wife is going to make a B-line for that baby, right? Lee: That's right. Exactly. We're heading out. We'll be up there tomorrow. Tara: That's what I would be doing if I were her. And she's going to drag you with her, right? You're the chauffeur. Lee: No, no, no. Hey, I willingly go. Good grief, are you kidding me? Can't wait to get a chance to see the little grand-grand. Tara: How old is she now? Lee: Uh, three. Three and a half, yeah. Tara: Oh, I love that age! Oh, I can't wait for grandkids. Anyway... So yeah, the best time to leave to avoid traffic is now. Lee: Yeah, well. Tara: Pretty much now. Lee: Okay, see ya. Tara: Yeah, before noon. And then, you know, just really middle of the night. At this point, it's going to get crazy, so be aware of that. Meanwhile, yesterday, and I must confess, I loved this—only because I appreciated it—did you see this? Russian climbers, Ivan Birkus and Angela Nikolau, scaled the antenna atop the Empire State Building and then got engaged 1,300 feet above New York City. (Audio clip plays from the stunt) > Reporter: "...not exactly sure what's going on here. It looks like the man has—is he proposing to her? It's a little, little unclear what's going on. It looks like he's proposing to her. He kneeled down, uh, said something to her, and now they are kissing at the top of the Empire State Building. This is unbelievable. So it looks like these two, uh, have—uh, or the gentleman has proposed to her, um, and, uh, just an unbelievable situation out here. They are still, uh, way up the Empire State Building, about 1,300 feet or so, I estimate, up in the air..." Tara: That's going to be a great story to tell the grandkids, right? Lee: Yeah, you can show them the mugshots too. Tara: Exactly! Well, the mugshots have significance. Charged with felony burglary, reckless endangerment, criminal mischief, and other offenses. But you know, it's New York. You know what I mean? Lee: Well, you know, maybe they just did this a little early because Mayor Adams wants to, you know, do away with police and you've got other socialists who want to do away with, uh, prison, so, you know, maybe they were just a little early on that. Tara: Yeah, I mean the only one who gets seriously prosecuted in New York City—the only person who gets seriously prosecuted in New York City is Donald Trump. Everybody else is fine. They'll be fine. Um, they actually were featured in the 2024 Netflix documentary, Skywalkers: A Love Story. And you know, you've got to love the coverage of this. They were talking about how the NYPD had to send in a special team to save them. And I'm like, they looked like they were doing fine. They'll have to come down eventually. You don't have to send anyone up there. They can't stay up there forever. Lee: Right. Tara: They'll come down. They got up, they'll be fine. Lee: Gravity will win eventually. Tara: Exactly! So anyway, you've got to love it. But there was apparently some breaking and entering here. I'm just in awe of this, okay? Because I have a pathological fear of heights.
