Tara Hunter is a lifelong educator, who is currently working as anassistant principal that believes that all children deserve a chance at agreat education. To achieve this, she has devoted thousands of hours ofher personal time and income to help children achieve their potentialover the last twenty years. This includes purchasing uniforms, shoes,coats, school supplies, and food. She has even provided a bed for a childthat was sleeping on the floor.Tara is such a proponent of education that she has earned two master’sand three bachelor’s degrees. Her husband told her at the beginning ofher teaching career that it would take at least 15 years to see the impactthat she had on her students’ lives. Now that her former students havetheir own children, they are reaching out to her on social media to thankher for her encouragement, inspiration, and modeling for them theimportance of education.She recently authored a children’s book about her two grandchildrengoing to visit their grandparents and is currently working on a book thatwill be called “In the Waiting Room” that provides encouragement andhope to individuals that are going through traumatic situations.Tara has been recognized by the Melinda and Bill Gate Foundation as anoutstanding educator. She has also had the opportunity to be a part of themath team at TN State level that identify the math standards students arebeing taught today.Tara Hunter is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Incorporate and chairedthe Education Development Program.Tara is the wife of an Air Force veteran and an ordained minister.
