From having her whakapapa stripped from her birth certificate when she was adopted, to her surviving sexual assault and familial abuse, to discovering her various indigenous identities, to her fistful of academic qualifications, Dr Huhana has navigated through it all with a wide smile and laugh, and since 1996 in her wheelchair; The Tardis. Her story is the living embodiment of resilience, and her empathy for others be they disabled, trauma survivors, trans, indigenous or queer, is what drives her advocacy.
