A year-on from the Trump Tariffs, we take a look at what stations in markets along the border covered a year ago, and their follow-ups. The majority of these stations cover communities with ties to Canada. Some outlets had trouble balancing coverage of things that hadn’t even happened yet, while others didn’t seem too concerned with consistency when it came to following up. At what point does covering a major policy-shift become speculation-narrative? And does a station have the wherewithal to maintain non-biased coverage in a follow-up?
