TASTEMAKERS WITH GILLIAN FLEISCHMANN

Gillian Fleischmann is a Pretoria based cultural producer, curator and photography-based artist. She is currently a Curatorial Assistant at the Javett Art Centre at the University of Pretoria (Javett-UP). Fleischmann has been curatorially involved in Javett-UP’s booth at the 2024 & 2023 FNB Art Joburg at the Sandton Convention Centre and has worked on the following exhibitions: We, the Purple (2024), SCENORAMA (2022) along with its travelling iteration to eThekwini in 2023, Buffer Zones (2022), and Specifications for a Reverse Archaeology (2023). She is a coordinator for the Handle with Care publication (2023) which recently received the HSS Award under the category, Best Exhibition Catalogue 2024. She mostly works as a project manager/ creative producer within creative spaces, including exhibition production and public programming. Gillian enjoys working with artists and seeing their vision come into fruition. She is interested in exploring alternative forms of knowledge production.
