Good day. This is Sheila Johnson, E.A. of TechStevas.com, where we deliver information and value-added services. Deadlines, deadlines.
This is just a reminder to let you know that if you paid anyone at least $600 for services performed, and that person is not your employee, that you may be required to issue them a form 1099MISC for miscellaneous income. That would apply whether you're a nonprofit, whether you are a running a side hustle, you're a small business. There's exceptions to the rule, such as if you issued that money to a corporation. There are many exceptions to the rule.
But just to make sure that you're on the safe side, you want to visit IRS.gov because that form is due and it needs to be postmarked by January 31st. There's steep penalties if it is not sent out to anyone that you paid at least $600 for services performed, and that can be a graphic artist. Perhaps someone did a website for you or your accountant. If you're at least $600, they must receive a 1099MISC for miscellaneous.
If you want to know more about the exceptions and how to get those out there, the quickest way possible, you can talk to me at their appointment or visit IRS.gov. Keep in mind that there's also a form 1096 that needs to be sent in as well. And the deadline is January 31st. As usual, it was wonderful speaking with you.
May you continue to plan, plant and prosper in this great decade.
