Taxi - Going Home
from The Rank Hosted by The Rank Podcast
👊🚕 John’s back at the Sunshine Garage for Taxi, Season 3, Episode 5: “Going Home.” This episode veers into Taxi’s more personal territory as Reverend Jim Ignatowski (Christopher Lloyd) receives an unexpected message from his past, a private investigator hired by his wealthy father finds him and delivers plane tickets and an invitation to visit home for the first time in decades, opening the door to a reunion Jim has long avoided. Jim dropped out of society years earlier, changed his name from Caldwell, and severed ties with his family when he walked away from an elite life, leaving behind privilege for the unpredictable world of New York cab culture. John breaks down why “Going Home” stands out as Taxi at its most reflective, blending dry humor with genuine emotional stakes, showcasing Jim’s backstory, and highlighting Alex’s role as the grounded heart of the ensemble. Tune in as John ranks this thoughtful chapter on the Sitcom Rankings, highlights the funniest moments and poignant beats, and asks whether this reunion earns its place among the series’ most memorable character explorations.
