Her parents Shannon and Russell Hickson raised her with her three younger siblings, Tianna, Tiernan and Tyson. Before her acting career, Taylor had never before lived outside of Kelowna, or even moved houses. Her Dad was an exceptional guitarist, and passed on his musical genes to Taylor. At the age of eleven, she began vocal lessons, writing songs and performing local shows with her father. At thirteen years old she began playing guitar and writing her own material.
