TCNW 685: Cody Ray

Host: Allan Newsome Running time: 0:39:31 In January 2014 I received an e-mail that changed things for me. It was from this weeks guest, Cody Ray DesBiens. At the time he sent the e-mail, he was 19 years old and he said he was a "HUGE Andy Griffith Show fan" who watched episodes every night with his mom. That wasn't the part that impacted me, though I was glad to hear a fairly young man was a Mayberry fan. What got me was that Cody had been diagnosed with a chronic type of Leukemia in October 2011. He went through chemo and eventually needed a bone marrow and stem cell transplant. He was in the hospital for a long time and needed something to keep his mind off the pain and sickness. It was then that he came across the YouTube version of this podcast. The thing that hit me was him saying that Two Chairs No Waiting helped him keep his mind off things. Wow…I was, and am, humbled by that and I've been wanting to have him as a quest ever since and FINALLY had a chance just last week. I know you're going to enjoy hearing Cody's story directly from him LIVE from the IHOP.
