On April 11th, TCU men's basketball just took another hit from the transfer portal. Sophomore center Mallet Diallo is heading out after two seasons with the Horned Frogs. The 6'9 big man from Mali barely saw the court this past year due to a knee injury that sidelined him right after the opener. As a freshman, Diallo suited up for 29 games, putting up 2.2 points and 2.7 rebounds per contest.
But an ACL tear in the very first matchup against New Orleans limited him to just six total minutes this season. He's now the sixth departure this offseason, joining sophomore forward David Punch, junior guard Leotar's Lelovicius, and a few redshirt freshmen and sophomores like Ashton Simmons, Jace Posey, and RJ Jones. That's a lot of turnover shaking up the roster. Back in high school, this four-star recruit ranked as the number 30 center in the country, according to 247 Sports.
He picked TCU over schools like Cal, Miami, and Vanderbilt, and he's leaving with three full years of eligibility still on the table. With so many players bouncing, TCU's got some serious rebuilding ahead to stay competitive in the Big 12. Keep an eye on how Coach Jamie Dixon reloads for next year.
