On April 12th, TCU women's basketball just locked in their fourth transfer portal gym this offseason, snagging Utah freshman Avery Hjelmstad. This 6'1 guard saw action in 31 games with one start last season, dropping 5.3 points and grabbing 1.7. Rebounds per game, she helped the Utes finish 19 wins and 13 losses, landing 7th in the Big 12. Coming off the bench mostly, Hay Homestad showed flashes that caught TCU's eye.
A four-star high school standout from Edmond, Oklahoma, she ranked as the number 49 player nationally before heading to Utah. Her top performances included a career-high 22 points against Colorado State on December 4th and eight boards versus Houston on January 17th. Now she's teaming up with Sanford forward, Lars Sumpai, UNC guard Laney Grant, and Oklahoma State guard Jaden Wooten in Fort Worth. This influx of talent has the Horned Frogs gearing up for a stronger run next year.
With these moves, TCU's roster is stacking up nicely, setting the stage for some serious competition ahead.
