On April 9th, TCU men's basketball just took a major hit with sophomore forward David Punch, announcing he's entering the transfer portal after two solid seasons in Fort Worth. Punch snagged all Big 12 honorable mention last year, led the Horned Frogs in scoring and rebounds, and helped push them to the second round of the 2026 NCAA tournament. Over those two years, he laced up for every single game, totaling 66 appearances with averages of 10.4 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per outing. Coming out of high school, Punch was a four-star stud in the top 100 of the class of 2024, picking TCU over big names like Virginia, Xavier, and NC State.
Now he's the sixth guy from this roster dipping into the portal this offseason, following Jace Posey, RJ Jones, Caden Edwards, Ashton Simmons, and Leotaris Lelibisius. In the portal, he's already cracking the top 10 according to on-gree rankings, and word is, he'll land one of the fattest paydays in college hoops as a top target. This exodus leaves TCU scrambling to rebuild, but Punch's move underscores how wild the transfer market has gotten. Keep an eye on where he lands next.
