TDEE/BMR/NEAT

from Living Limitless · host Clint Riggin

It is Friday, Limitless Family! The week is over but that does not mean we stop. You see, I’m on 75 Hard and we got a lot of days left. But it’s a blessing to be with a group of individuals that are motivated to better every single fucking day and we’re going to talk about “What is TDEE, BMR, and NEAT?” What the Hell is that? Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE). It’s an approximate measurement of how many calories you’re burning every day. Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR). It’s the number of calories your body needs to accomplish its most basic life-sustaining functions (Breathing, Circulation, Nutrient Processing, Cell Production). And then NEAT, Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis. This is the energy expended for everything we do that is not sleeping, eating, or sports-like exercises. Arranged from the energy expended walking to work, typing, your daily activities. And you’re probably going to ask, “Why are these important?” See, we all have different bodies, metabolisms, weights, body types. With these above, a qualified coach is able to understand more about where you currently are and the number of calories, macros, that you need to reach your end goal. Being able to understand these calculations will be able to put you in either a caloric surplus or deficit to lose fat or gain muscle. Calories in vs calories out. A simple equation to follow. If you burn more than you input, you’ll lose weight. If you eat more than you burn, you’ll gain weight, but there are a lot of different factors, such as your hormones, your metabolic adaptation, and a lot more that go into this, but this is the basics. If you’re still lost, reach out to me. Send me a DM on Instagram or Facebook and I’ll calculate your calories or macros for you.
