TDYR 405 - A Frustrating Aspect of Wikipedia: "Your" Page Is NOT Yours To Edit - Explaining COI

"Wait? What? If something is wrong on a Wikipedia page about my company, I can't just go in and edit it??? That's crazy!" One of the most challenging and frustrating aspects for newcomers to Wikipedia is the guidelines and policies about "conflict of interest" (COI). What you think of as "your" page is NOT your page to edit. In this episode I talk about what is going on, why this is the way it is... and what you can do within Wikipedia's conventions if you do have COI and would like to suggest changes to an article.
