TEACH NO OTHER DOCTRINE (part 7) A SERIES ON THE FUNDAMENTALS OF OUR FAITH 1Timothy 1:3 As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia, that thou mightiest charge some that they teach no other doctrine. 1. WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS SERIES? a) ~Fundamental~ - Forming a necessary base or core; of central importance. A central or primary rule or principle on which something is based. b) We will learn from the scripture the doctrines that we need to establish, proclaim, stand upon, & defend. c) Being fundamental is not a bad thing, but that word has been given a bad rap. d) These doctrines need to be based on the scripture and not man’s opinion. e) These are doctrines that we find clearly taught and defended in scripture. We do not stand on opinions from a single debatable verse. We Are Mid-Acts Dispensational 2. WHERE DO WE FIND IT IN SCRIPTURE a) The term Mid-Acts is not found in the scripture, it simply describes when we believe the mystery of the body of Christ was revealed, and when we believe this age of grace began. b) Dispensation is a biblical word – 1Cor 9:17, Eph 1:10, 3:2, Col 1:25. c) The mystery was revealed to Paul - Eph 3:1-5, Rom 16:25, Col 1:25-27,2Tim 1:8-11. d) He was saved as a pattern – Acts 7:58, 8:1, 9:1:8, 1Tim 1:11-16, Gal 1:11-16, 1Cor 3:10, 1Cor 11:1. e) He was commissioned as the apostle to the gentiles – Acts 9:15-16, Rom 11:13,15:16, Gal 2:6-8, Eph 3:1, Col 1:27, 2Tim 1:11, 3. WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT? a) Because with out recognizing this, you will not know God’s will for you today – Eph 1:8-11, 1Cor 2:6-10, 1Tim 2:4-7, 1Thess 5:18. b) If you do not know when this age began, your foundation and doctrine will be wrong – Acts 2:4,38. John 20:22-23, Mark 16:15-18, Matt 5:17-20, 23:1-3, 10:5-8 – 1Cor 13:8, Eph 4:32, Col 1:14, Rom 6:14, Eph 3:9. c) Your understanding will be incomplete – 1Tim 1:7, Eph 3:3-4, 1Cor 14:19-20, Eph 5:17, 2Tim 2:7. d) You can easily mix/corrupt the gospel – Gal 1:6-9, 1Cor 15:1-4, Rom 4:5…… Acts 2:38, James 2:24, Rev 3:20, 1John 2:3 are not the gospel. 4. WHY WE NEED TO DEFEND THIS a) To make the gospel clear – 2Cor 11:3-4, Eph 6:19, Rom 16:25 – Rom 4:23-25, 1Cor 15:1-4, Eph 2:8-9, 1Cor 1:17-18 b) It is our commission – 2Cor 5:20, Eph 6:19-20, Phil 2:15-16. c) Our apostle had to defend it, we will too – 2Tim 1:8, Rom 1:1, 2Cor 11:5, Gal 2:1-5.
