Tear it Down

from Epiphany for the Everyday · host Emily Hill

The first step in Gideon’s battle plan given to him by God actually has nothing to do with the enemy he thinks they need to defeat. It’s actually something in his own backyard. Literally. Gideon is told to tear down an altar to Baal, another god who the people had decided could maybe help fix some of their problems. The altar had to go. But this was a two-step plan. Tear down the altar and then build a new one. This one being for the One. The only true God. They needed to get their focus fixed and have their hearts return to worship. No longer trying to rely on idols and gods that were cheap imitations of the real One. This was the real battle. Trusting God alone and being obedient to His commands. Join Emily as we unpack this more in our newest episode, focused on Judges 6:25-32.
