I am your host Greg Doig. If you love technology like I do, yes, you're in the right place again. Here are some of this week's top tech headlines stories from September 20 to September 24. This is a collection of some of the top technology news stories I ran across the web this week. Our first story up comes from MAC rumors written by Joe Rossignol, where Apple releases iOS 12 point 5.5 update for older iPhones with a fix for zero day exploits and says the update can be downloaded over the air by going to the Settings app tapping on general and selecting the software update option. There's no word yet on what's included in the update. But according to Apple's release notes it's a security update that addresses vulnerabilities with core graphics WebKit and the X and you Apple says that is received reports suggesting these exploits were used in the wild. So iOS device users still running iOS 12 should update immediately. And according to bleeping computer, at least one of the bugs was likely used to deploy NSO Pegasus spyware on hacked devices. Devices unable to be updated past iOS 12 include the iPhone five s iPhone six, iPhone six plus iPad touch six, original iPad Air, iPad Mini two, and iPad Mini three. Apple has also released a new 2021 double oh six security update for machines running Mac OS Catalina second story comes from the Microsoft blog, Microsoft revealed the largest update to the surface portfolio in its history with pixel sense displays new pen technology, premium mics and cameras, powerful silicon and versatile form factors. The new Surface devices are designed to take windows innovation to the next level. The new lineup includes a fresh take on the powerhouse laptop with the new surface laptop studio. Also an upgrade to their iconic two in one family with a redesigned Surface Pro eight, a new surface go three and updates to Surface Pro X. There's a step forward for dual screen mobile productivity with the surface duo two. Also analysis a surface slim pen two which makes taking digital inking to the next level with haptic feedback, a set of new accessories that represent an expanded view of product making and bring issues of sustainability and inclusivity into focus from the apple website. New features for Apple podcasts and iOS 15. With the release of iOS 15 new sharing and personalization features are now available in Apple podcasts. listeners can now easily see all of the episodes shows and channels shared with them over messages in one convenient section in Apple podcasts. Additionally, Apple has expanded personalized show recommendations in the listen now section by opening new ways for listeners to discover their next favorite podcast. And China's central bank on Friday said all financial transactions involving cryptocurrencies are illegal in China, which sounds the death knell for the digital trade in China after a crackdown on the volatile currencies.
