Tech Leader Pro podcast 2024 week 6, Blame is a circular game

from Lead Prompt Podcast · host John Collins

Leaders, if you help create a blame culture via your own example, do not act surprised when you get blamed. Notes: Leaders, if you help create a blame culture via your own example, do not act surprised when you get blamed. Blame goes full circle when it becomes the cultural norm, and it will return on you once it gathers enough momentum. Blame is a boomerang effect. The blame game is an anti-pattern. How it happens is simple: when something goes wrong, do you as a leader: Try to fix it? Try to find who to blame? In a good team, people will know themselves when they messed up. It does not need to be said, especially publicly. If you quietly give people the time to fix their own mistakes, they will appreciate it. Adding drama to an already bad situation simply makes it worse. Failing is learning. It is only a problem when nothing is learned. What I am working on this week: Alpha Framework version 4.0 with support for PHP 8.1 - hitting CI/CD issues with PHP Unit coverage integration with Codecov. Media I am enjoying this week: The Cosmic Puppets by Philip K. Dick. Notes and subscription links are here: https://techleader.pro/a/632-Tech-Leader-Pro-podcast-2024-week-6,-Blame-is-a-circular-game
