Teen Victim, Father Accused in Baby’s Death | Fresno News

Monterey County authorities are hunting for Sergio Galvez Perez, a 38-year-old accused of incest and multiple lewd acts with a minor after a newborn was found dead by the roadside. The case initially drew public outrage when a 14-year-old girl was wrongly cast as a suspect — but the DA’s office clarified she’s actually a victim of abuse by her father. Warrants for both Perez and the teen were issued without DA approval, and prosecutors are now focused solely on Perez’s charges. Meanwhile, the teen’s mother was arrested for child endangerment over unsafe living conditions and lack of medical care, but has since been released on bail. Officials are still searching for both the teen and Perez, while the DA vows to provide trauma support once she’s found — and is reviewing potential charges against the mother separately from the baby’s death or abuse allegations.
