Welcome to the tweet trends podcast. Hey, what's trending today? Hey, I mean, hey girl And you are tuned in to try it's the quickest way to find out what's trending today Hey guys, it's telephone Tuesday. Let's get started So this one is a brand new one for me.

I never heard of telephone Tuesday So I did a little bit of reading and basically telephone Tuesday is the day coming out of the Labor Day weekend You know you had a long weekend businesses were closed and so therefore people may have made phone calls to businesses while they were Closed this is the day when call volume goes up because of companies that are returning calls because people that couldn't make calls over the weekend Are now calling different companies businesses to make plans to purchase things or you know set appointments Whatever it is it seems that like Labor Day is that cutoff day where you know summer fun has ended and it's time to get back to business So they're going through and making calls and reaching out and even as far as making purchases for holiday gifts already Because before we know it just be honest be real before you know it is going to be Christmas simple as that Christmas Thanksgiving Halloween They're all just gonna come tumbling one right after the next and before you know it we're gonna be celebrating another year So the fact that telephone Tuesday has it's been around not long But it's something that's been noticed because of call volumes You know people do research on these types of things. I don't know that I would have ever thought to do research on Let's see what does call volume do coming out of a long holiday weekend like I don't know that that that would have even been a thought in my mind To consider but I like the idea so we're running with it today So for telephone Tuesday, we cannot skip over the idea of the evolution of the telephone period because you know We've come a long way. We've got these android and apple devices now that we call phones, but they are phones on steroids They do a whole heck of a lot more than what a telephone did back in the day You got to think about it if you go way way back in time Telephones were initially just one piece and the same part that you talked through was the same part that you had to listen through So you're bouncing back and forth between talk talk talk talk listen listen listen listen listen And honestly, I think that was probably the best type of phone because in my opinion It makes for the best type of communication You can't be talking and listening at the same time and one of those old-timey telephones But somebody probably got tired of doing that because then you have that design of the phone is the little black one That has like a little megaphone coming off of it And it has the megaphone that you listen to so you hold that one up to your ear and you talk to the one you talk through the one That's connected to the phone. However, those phones did not have any type of Mechanism on them where you could dial someone direct you had to go through the operator So you pick up your phone and the operator is there and you tell them connect me with this person And they do their little line crossings and boom then you get connected to wherever it is that you're trying to get to Well, then you know, you continue to go on through time and one of the time periods that I really enjoyed growing up with telephones is The corded telephone.

I don't know I feel like everybody had that one phone in their kitchen that had the super duper long Curly cord that the only kind of Privacy that you got on a phone call was however far you could get that cord to stretch if that cord is stretched to a room Or you could close the door and talk then you got a little bit of privacy But if not you were ducking around corners doing the most trying to get a little bit of privacy and talk on the phone So that your parents or whoever else your little kid brother or sister was not all in your business And then from there things started to get a little dicey because we went from this wall-mounted phone And you know, you've got your push button and your rotary dial both of those were you know Those types of phones could be found in both of those styles But then we started getting these little new fangled type phones where it's not the whole thing It can sit where every can sit on a desk and it has a little button on it And it's literally just a handset portion and then we move on to these mobile phones. You have the brick phone I had a break. I probably still have my brick phone. Why are you playing?

And then you move further down the line and then eventually you get to where we are today And so the idea then is what's next for the telephone? I mean, I can't even imagine but then I think back and it's like, you know I could not imagine what we currently have as a telephone back then in the 80s So to say what's coming what's the future of tell of telephones? I have no idea, but I am here for it I'm excited For this last segment on telephone Tuesday I want to take the attention off of business and selling stuff and to not even think about the types of phones that we are using but now to focus on interpersonal relationships. I got a phone call from one of my besties from college and She lost a friend her friend passed due to COVID yesterday morning and she was reaching out to call just about all of her friends to let them know that they're on her mind and That she appreciates them and that she loves them And I think this if not more than anything else is the best reason and way to celebrate telephone Tuesday Use this opportunity to pick up your phone and actually call somebody Yeah, we can send a text message and it goes quick and you don't have to stop what you're doing But for two seconds to send a text to say hey But to actually pick up a phone take the time out to have a conversation with somebody call hear their voice talk with them Have an exchange of ideas and memories and that sort of thing.

That's the type of thing right there That is what we all need you need connection. You need to know that there's somebody out there that's thinking of you We don't get that all the time. Sometimes we feel like we are alone in this world and we're not so use this this day telephone Tuesday Take some time out and just reach out and touch someone Give them a call ask how they're doing and if they're not there guess what leave a message I get so tired of people saying they don't like what they sound like on a recording So therefore they don't leave a message, but guess what Sherlock you don't have to hear yourself I'm on the other end of this phone. I'm listening to your message not you so it's not making it about yourself Stop trying to you know control the entire narrative.

Let it be let the whole thing just happen You call I don't answer leave a message because let me tell you I'm one of those type people where I have messages saved on my phone from people who are no longer here with us And every now and then I just want to hear their voice guess what I do I go and listen to the voicemail that they left for me and it gives me a piece a comfort a warmth it's almost like an audio hug and You know so don't don't keep someone from getting that piece to be able to possibly remember you by go ahead and do it Use telephone Tuesday to reach out and touch someone All right, thanks for tuning in to tweet trends today Do me a favor reach out and touch someone and share today's episode with them Yes, you know how to find me, but make sure your friends know how to find me on Twitter Facebook YouTube Instagram at hey That that's at he why E V E T T E or just look for the hashtag tweet trends enjoy your telephone Tuesday And I'll be talking to you again on Thursday
