Tell Me the Stories of Jesus: The Gerasene Demoniac

from Community Brookside · host Matt Morgan

In Mark chapter 5, Jesus crosses the Sea of Galilee into Gentile territory to reach one man who had been completely abandoned by his community and left to live among the tombs. This man was bound not only by spiritual torment but also by social, religious, ethnic, and economic systems that offered him no way back. Jesus walked into every one of those systems and disrupted them, restoring the man's dignity, identity, and place in community. He then sent the man home as the first missionary to the Gentiles, commissioned to tell others what the Lord had done for him. The story is a direct challenge to the church today. Following Jesus means being willing to go to uncomfortable and messy places, asking who has been pushed to the margins, and showing up for them anyway. The same Jesus who crossed a lake for one forgotten man is still crossing every boundary to reach the least and the lost. Now He calls His people to carry that mission forward.Support the showVisit communitybrookside.com or facebook.com/communitybrookside for more information!
