Tender Too The Touch

In this week's episode, I have two main topics I want to talk about- the first is about doing our own work and not asking others to do what we haven't done or aren't willing to do whether you are a therapist, spiritual director, teacher, parent, friend, basically anyone. Think about what you are suggesting/asking and whether you are trying those things in your own life as well not just telling others to do it. Secondly, loving and healing is complicated and can be a very long process with ups and downs, twists and turns, and it is rarely straightforward. Sometimes we do ALL the work and the healed spot is still tender. Sometimes we wake up one morning and the anger is gone. Sometimes the person who did the wronging can work to make it right and the injury still smarts. That doesn't mean you aren't healing it just means it takes time.  I am no stranger to this yet sometimes I'm still shocked that I'm angry, tired, resentful... When what I want is to give myself less judgment around my feelings and more room, gentleness, curiosity, and love. To be able to say to all the parts of myself that I'm okay.
