Tennessee-Georgia Rivalry on Hiatus | Georgia Bulldogs Football News

For the first time since 1991, Tennessee and Georgia won’t clash on the gridiron this season — a seismic shift for a rivalry steeped in history. With Georgia riding a nine-game win streak and head coach Kirby Smart boasting a 9-1 record against the Vols, the Bulldogs’ dominance is undeniable. Smart praised Tennessee’s coaching staff and acknowledged the matchup’s intensity, while fans mourn the temporary pause. But don’t worry — the classic showdowns are coming back, with Georgia set to visit Knoxville in 2027 and Tennessee hosting in 2029. This scheduling change is just one ripple in the SEC’s evolving landscape, and everyone’s watching to see how it shakes out.
