Today's tension: Intimacy (connection with God) vs. Involvement (commitment/responsibility for God). Many feel trapped: too busy doing for God to be with Him, or too withdrawn with Him to do for Him. Jesus models holding both.Key Points:The Common Struggle: Life feels busy ("running out of gas"). We feel pressure to perform responsibilities, often sacrificing time for relationship with God. Or, we prioritize personal connection but neglect outward mission/service. We feel torn between connection and commitment.Mary & Martha (Luke 10): This story illustrates the tension. Martha is consumed by serving (involvement), while Mary sits at Jesus' feet (intimacy). Jesus affirms Mary chose the "better part"—prioritizing relationship with Him is foundational.Jesus' Rhythm: Come AND Go: Jesus balanced deep intimacy with the Father (withdrawing to pray) and active involvement (healing, teaching, sending). He invites us both to "Come" (Matt 11:28) and "Go" (Matt 28:19). Intimacy with Christ fuels and sustains fruitful involvement in His mission. We must prioritize remaining connected to Him, the True Vine, trusting that responsible action flows from that vital relationship.Call to Action: Evaluate your rhythm.
