Fully loaded with spectacular practical effects and Batman himself, Christian Bale, the film seemed destined to be a winner...except it wasn't. Universally despised by critics, under-performing at the box office and a mild reception by audiences it was clear the franchise had fallen out of popular opinion. What was supposed to be the beginning to a brand-new trilogy, instantly spiraled toward an unknown future.
