Terps Rebuild with Confidence and Leadership | Maryland Terrapins Football News

Maryland football is poised for a major turnaround in 2026, bringing back 71% of last year’s production—the highest retention in the Big Ten. With renewed confidence from players and coaches, the Terps are building momentum through intense fall camp and a revamped offense led by new OC Clint Trickett. Former Michigan tight end Jake Butt praised the team’s grit despite tough losses, highlighting a determined “we want to fix this here” mindset. Head coach Mike Locksley is thrilled with the depth on both lines and the progress of the run game. Sophomore QB Malik Washington, recruited into Trickett’s familiar system, has evolved from backup to leader—on the field and in the huddle—setting the tone for a season of redemption.
