Terps Special Teams Revamped | Maryland Terrapins Football News

Maryland’s special teams are poised for a major upgrade with key returnees like All-Big Ten kicker Sean O’Haire and punter Bryce McFerson setting the standard—giving the coach tactical flexibility on fourth down. But new faces are filling critical gaps: a freshman long snapper stepping in for a veteran, and fresh kickers—including one with elite high school touchback stats and another from Ireland—aiming to fix last year’s weak kickoff returns. The return game also gets a shot in the arm with a speedy graduate transfer who was a kickoff specialist. With new rules making fair catches more attractive, Maryland can choose risk or safety—and every call could be the difference-maker.
