Terrifying & True | The Missing Paperboys of Des Moines: Johnny Gosch and Eugene Martin

Johnny Gosch and Eugene Martin disappeared while delivering newspapers in the Des Moines area, two years apart. Terrifying & True revisits twelve-year-old Johnny’s 1982 disappearance and thirteen-year-old Eugene’s vanishing in 1984, tracing the early searches, family efforts and public pressure to improve responses to missing children. Similar circumstances invited speculation, but they do not establish a shared offender. These cases became part of a national reckoning over children’s safety. How did two familiar paper routes become the start of unanswered questions? We're telling that story tonight.
