Instead, the trip turned into a bloody scene with Vaughn's wife and children all dying after being shot, leaving Vaughn as the sole survivor. Vaughn was charged with their murders. In 2012, it took a jury less than an hour to find Vaughn guilty. He was given four life sentences.Grieving the loss of her parents, Leah Toby Roberts left her North Carolina home for a road trip that took her to Whatcom County. That was on March 9, 2000. She hasn’t been seen since March 13, 2000. At the time of her disappearance, according to the Charley Project, Roberts was 23 years old, 5’6”, and approximately 130 pounds.
