Terry Heller on working for Eazy-E Straight Outta High School plus other crazy shiz

from Rebel Radio · host Rebel Industries & EDM.com

This week’s guest is Terry Heller. In this episode you will find snippets of music from The Pharcyde, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony, and WC. The EDM.com Track of the Week is Morris by King Mez: https://soundcloud.com/hip-hop/king-mez-morris Man, Terry Heller has seen some shit. As a teenager, he hung around with NWA. (His uncle Jerry was NWA’s infamous manager played by Paul Giammati in Straight Outta Compton.) Fresh out of high school Terry went to work for Eazy-E, finding talent like the group that would become the Black Eyed Peas and shooting videos for Bone Thugs-n-Harmony. After years as a successful music video director and real estate developer, Terry opened Plan Check — an updated spin on the all-American burger joint that quickly won lots of awards and has become a favorite of LA foodies. In this episode, Terry shares some NWA stories and insight into how he’s built his career. And it goes a little something like this: 1. Have no fear. He learned that by watching Eazy, maybe the most fearless person ever. There’s no limit on what you can accomplish if you believe you can. 2. Reinvent. When Plan A no longer worked for Terry, he didn’t sit around wishing it would change; he moved on to Plan B, and then to Plan Check (see what I did there?!). 3. Fake it ’til you make it. Terry uses his fear of being found a fraud to push himself to work harder. Is that what you do or do you let it slow you down? Any thoughts on the episode? Did you see Straight Outta Compton?
