Terry Moultroup Remembered for F-16 Over Ground Zero | Montpelier News

Terry Moultroup, the Vermont Air National Guard pilot whose iconic F-16 photo soaring over Ground Zero after 9/11 has become a symbol of resilience, passed away at age 63 after a long illness. A lifelong Vermonter and dedicated community servant, he flew combat missions in the days following the attacks and later served on his town’s selectboard. His family honors him with a funeral on September 13th and asks for donations to UVM Home Health and Hospice instead of flowers — a poignant tribute as the 25th anniversary of 9/11 approaches.
