Ciaran shares his story and experiences of infertility and how much of a shock it was to him to find out that his sperm wasn't as good as he thought it would be! For Ciaran finding out he only had 1500 sperm created a major turning point in his life. Initially he went into denial which was quickly followed by guilt, depression, isolation and ultimately alcohol abuse. Ciaran completely lost his lust for life gaining weight and reaching his darkest and lowest place where he gave his wife permission to leave him. Not knowing how things were going to turn out he finally admitted that he needed help where he turned to counselling. It was through the support of his counsellor that Ciaran was able to begin to turn things around. Throughout Ciaran's struggles fertility treatment continued and after 10 years of treatment he and his wife went on to have 2 children, however this didn't fix all the problems he'd experienced throughout treatment. Ciaran's turning point was when he realised no one was going to come and help him. He knew he had to help himself and that started with exercise. It took time but eventually Ciaran turned his life around and now channels that experience into helping other men by talking openly about his experience and has gone on to launch his own personal training business supporting couples trying to conceive.
