De Formule 1 gaat voorafgaand aan het 2022-seizoen twee keer testen. Eenmaal in Barcelona en eenmaal in Bahrein. De eerste sessie is echter achter gesloten deuren en wordt ook niet op televisie uitgezonden.    Waarom is dat? Naar verluidt heeft Bahrein met een zak geld de 'openingsprimeur' van het nieuwe seizoen geclaimd.   Helmut Marko vreest niet voor een overstap van Max Verstappen naar Mercedes, mocht Lewis Hamilton zijn helm aan de wilgen hangen. Volgens de Red Bull Racing-topman heeft het incident op Silverstone afgelopen seizoen een te grote scheur achtergelaten.
