Tethered

from Contingence · host Jesse Talbot

[LYRICS] Unblinking, bloodshot eyes locked on the LCD. Like insects drawn to light, we gravitate towards the screen. Welcome to the age of distraction, of towering expectations. The cycle of dissatisfaction devouring all of our patience. This hope breeds obsession; we can't disengage. With change comes regression, the products of haste. Are we learning our lesson? We've all gone to waste. Where the fuck's our discretion? A planet defaced. We've all gone to waste. What will be left in our wake? The threshold's behind us; data defines us. We are a network, a virtual society. We are all tethered, dependent on our machines. Alone we're born and alone we die. Is this all that's in between? Entertaining ourselves just to pass the time with pixels and nicotine.
