Texas Women's Basketball Fire Test | Texas Longhorns Basketball News

Texas women’s basketball is diving headfirst into a brutal nonconference schedule designed to prep them for March Madness, with high-stakes exhibition games against UConn and UCLA before the regular season even starts. Coach Vic Schaefer’s revamped squad faces 16 tough nonconference matchups — eight against last year’s NCAA tournament teams — including road battles against Elite Eight squads Ohio State and TCU. They’ll test themselves in Las Vegas at the Players Era Showcase, taking on Duke and then reigning champs UCLA back-to-back. The ultimate goal? Build a contender resume, evaluate early, and force growth before conference play begins — all while giving fans across the country something to watch.
