Winnie has passed the word onto a small number of villagers that know about the secret, that the tree is in a terrible condition, and time is running out. As a sign that things are changing, reports in newspapers that gnomes, goblins, and dragons have been spotted, and as Winnie walks home, she is met by a group of Brownies, on the way to a very special place in the wood.
