Pension and provident fund money does not simply go to the people named in a will. By law (such as Section 37C of the Pension Funds Act in South Africa), the fund's Board of Trustees has the final say. They must find all of the deceased person's financial dependants and split the money fairly among them, Mr Mantyi explains.
