The 1967 North Minneapolis Uprising

On July 22, 1967, hundreds of National Guard troops occupied Plymouth Avenue in North Minneapolis following three nights of fire, arrests, and street clashes. The unrest shattered Minnesota’s long-standing myth of racial exceptionalism, exposing deep systemic issues with redlining, job discrimination, and police brutality.
