The ranks of the Royal Welch Fusiliers at Waterloo contained veterans from Egypt, Corunna, Albuera, Badajoz, and Orthes, as well as numerous other actions from Martinique in the Caribbean to Toulouse in the south of France. Probably due to their experience and reputation, the Regiment was positioned in a more central role than the other two units of Mitchell's Brigade, and suffered disproportionate casualties among its officers.
