The 27 Strikeout No-Hitter | Pastball Podcast #15

from Past Ball Podcast · host Beard Laws Studio

May 13th, 1952 Ron Necciai (pronounced Net Shy) a 19 year old was slated to pitch for the Class D Bristol Twins an affiliation at the time of the Pirates, after he struck out 20 batters in his debut, then 19 in another game, then struck out 11 of 12 in a relief role three days later. As impressive as this was he did all this with terrible stomach issues. He battled stomach ulcers his entire life but it was getting worst. The night of his historic performance he would swallow some weird black pills and chug milk in between innings. He then went on to strike out a record 27 batters in a no-hit effort. The only pitcher to accomplish this feat in a nine-inning professional league game. This is Past Ball Podcast and as the Great Bob Uecker said Get Up Get Outta Here! Hosted on Acast.
