"The 5K Guy" Inspiring People to Succeed- Converged Newsroom IU Class Assignment Podcast

The following is a class assignment for MSCH-J 300 Converged Newsroom at Indiana University where I am finishing up my final semester as a journalism major, and this is one of four assignments for this course as this will not be the last time you will see me posting videos or podcasts on this course. A man from Bloomington is changing the perception of a 5K marathon. Seth Jones, AKA The 5K Guy, is using the 5K run not just for the physical feat, but as a platform to promote love, faith, health, and activity in a unique and inspiring way. Born in Springfield, Missouri, Jones moved to Bloomington, Indiana, where his father was a traveling pastor. Despite facing challenges during his school years and being a rebellious teen, Jones was a former high school athlete. As a swimmer at Bloomington High School North, he found a void in his life after leaving college. To fill this void, he started a revolutionary journey. Since May 2023, The 5K Guy has been sharing videos on his growing Instagram page promoting physical fitness, mental health, diet, and spirit. These experiences have brought positive changes to his life.   Jones is currently residing in the country of Brazil where he found the love of his life and is living a life outside of America, where he says many Americans like him fall in for bad habits thanks to corporations many people are living unhealthy lives.   Finally, Jones, also known as the "5K guy," thinks about Bloomington sometimes but cannot wait to leave the city and start a new life for himself and, one day, his family. His life goals are vast, such as starting an online training course and receiving a TV contract, but he has a message to send to those struggling: that one day they can succeed.
