We start with a couple of birthdays - Joe Morello takes in the theme and then a feature set to celebrate the centenary of trumpeter Ray Copeland who played with Monk, Lionel Hampton, Randy Weston and more.Then we head to Jericho Park for this weekend's Vancouver Folk Music Festival! A feature set for the great Billy Bragg on the main stage tomorrow night and an eclectic set featuring music from festival artists Kazdoura, Aysanabee, Mitsune (from Japan), Valerie June, Maruja Limón (from Spain), Cousin Harley/Paul Pigat, Sahra Halgan (from Somaliland) and Yagody (from Ukraine)!Finishing with a preview of some music from next weekend's Fort Langley Jazz and Arts Festival! I'll do a ticket giveaway for Laila Biali's show at the Chief Sepass Theatre on Sunday July 26th.
