The Achronim: The Jewish Community of AHU (Altona, Hamburg, Wandsbek) and its Rabbinic Leaders

We will explore the Rabbis of AHU, which will also serve as a window into the broader historical forces that shaped earlymodern Jewish life in Western Europe. Through their lives, writings, and controversies, we’ll examine key themes such as Sabbatianism, the Haskalah (Jewish Enlightenment), and secularization. Most important, we will seek to appreciate the great talmidei chachamim and communal leaders.
