The adoption of China’s first civil code

Chinese law makers have deliberated a draft civil code at the annual session of the country's national legislature which ends on Thursday. With 1260 articles, the Civil Code is the most extensive legislation in China, as well as the only legislation officially called a “code”. Legal experts believe the adoption of the civil code furthers people’s interest in strengthening the rule of law.
