In which our adventurer remains in England to attend the sorrowful Monimia, who endures the anguish of abandoned love with a resigned and pious demeanour, while he endeavours to win her favour through declarations of affection and the assistance of a persuasive landlady. Though Monimia steadfastly resists his advances, consumed by thoughts of eternal salvation, both the landlady and our hero exercise their wits and gentleness to alleviate her melancholy and earn her trust.
