What did we learn from Quebec’s sovereignty movement and its last referendum in the 90s? What are the pros and cons of separating? What economical challenges would Alberta be facing as a sovereign country considering its landlocked geography? Would that impact trade relationships? Alberta is the bedrock of Canada’s oil and gas industry; however, it feels inadequately represented by the federal government. So why hasn’t Alberta left Canada already? What keeps it here? Does believing in a future where all Canadian provinces got along and leveraged equitably their resources to become an international power just utopia?
