Unsolved: The Alphabet Murders

from Hitched 2 Homicide · host Kris Calvert and Rob Pottorf

November 1971. Rochester, New York. Ten-year-old Carmen Colón disappears while walking to a neighborhood pharmacy. Witnesses later report seeing a frightened, partially clothed child running beside a highway and desperately trying to escape a man in a car—but no one stops to help. Two days later, Carmen’s body is discovered outside the nearby town of Churchville. Less than two years later, 11-year-old Wanda Walkowicz vanishes while returning home from the grocery store. The following morning, a state trooper finds her body near a rest area in Webster. Then, in November 1973, 11-year-old Michelle Maenza disappears after leaving school. Her body is found two days later near a rural road in Macedon. Three children. Three matching sets of initials. And three body-disposal locations beginning with the same letters as the victims’ names: Carmen Colón near Churchville, Wanda Walkowicz in Webster, and Michelle Maenza in Macedon. The eerie pattern led the media to call the cases the Alphabet Murders, or the Double Initial Murders. Yet authorities have never officially established that all three girls were killed by the same person. The investigations remain open, and despite numerous suspects, theories, eyewitness accounts, and advances in forensic science, no one has ever been charged. Was a serial predator deliberately choosing children whose names fit a twisted pattern? Or did coincidence connect three separate crimes and send investigators searching for a killer who never existed? This is the heartbreaking and still-unsolved story of Carmen Colón, Wanda Walkowicz, and Michelle Maenza—the young victims forever linked by The Alphabet Murders. sources used for this podcast Send Kris and Rob a Message Support the show JOIN THE  HITCHED 2 HOMICIDE IN-LAWS AND OUTLAWS START KRIS CALVERT'S BOOKS TODAY FOR FREE H2H WEBSITE H2H on TWITTER H2H on INSTA     Hosted by Simplecast, an AdsWizz company.
