York offers a melancholy defense, admitting he sometimes stands outside Amy's building reminiscing about their failed marriage, claiming the difference between her success and his failure drove them apart. As Sinteller takes York downtown for further questioning, he warns Johnny that he's getting too personally involved in the case, suggesting the investigator might be falling for Amy himself.Johnny spends hours wrestling with Sinteller's observation before deciding to visit Amy at her apartment.
