Send us Fan MailSomeone can be brilliant, educated, kind, and still be trapped in an abusive relationship that ends in tragedy. That fact alone destroys the lazy myths our culture repeats about domestic violence and intimate partner violence. I start with real stories of women killed by spouses or partners, then push back hard on the stereotype that survivors are “weak,” “codependent,” or somehow responsible for what was done to them. From there, I dig into how media framing shapes what we notice and what we miss. When abusers are always portrayed as obvious monsters, we overlook the charming, successful, controlled image many perpetrators maintain. I also talk about how victim blaming gets worse for Black women through racist and sexist stereotypes that reduce empathy and protection. We connect these patterns to deeper history, including patriarchy and colonization, and we look at violence data that shows why home should be safe yet often isn’t for women. The thread that holds it together is identity and purpose. I argue that trauma, control, and spiritual drift fracture the soul, and that true healing goes deeper than surface coping. Using Scripture and practical Christian teaching, I share how knowing God, staying rooted in Christ, and relying on the Holy Spirit helps us resist evil, renew the mind, and move toward real peace. If you’re tired of shallow takes on abuse, faith, and healing, listen through to the end and then share this with someone who needs it.
