The series follows Light Yagami (Brad Swaile), a Japanese high schooler who finds a supernatural notebook that can kill people. Light tells the Shinigami Ryuk (Brian Drummond), the Death Note’s original owner, that he will kill criminals and become the God of the New World. Facing off against Light in a battle of wits is the world’s greatest detective, L (Alessandro Juliani). Death Note garnered praise for its thrilling narrative, though it also drew criticism due to real life imitators.
